You know, the 20-30 handicap level is one of my favorite levels to teach, because many times, with just a little bit of extra knowledge, and some practice, you can knock off some 5 to 10 shots in your handicap in no time. For the 4 handicapper to improve to a 1 or a 0, it can be a hard fought battle. But for this handicap, if you can just do a few things better on the course, you are in business!
Most golfers I see at this handicap level can really string together some nice shots, especially out on the range where the conditions are nice and flat…where they don't have to move around too much. But get them out on the golf course and they really seem to have a tough time with some of the different lies, like uneven lies, and hitting out of the rough. This tape takes the mystery out of those on-course shots and gives you a crystal-clear idea of what you need to do to be successful out on the golf course. If you've struggled before in trying to hit good golf shots out on the golf course, you're probably trying to make them too much like the range. You do need to alter your swing just slightly for these shots on the course, and now you'll understand why and what those alterations are.
Also, aiming is a huge factor at this handicap level… I wish someone had taught me how to aim a little better as a kid growing up! I'll teach you how to aim out on the course just like the pros. It's easy to do and takes just a little practice.
Troubleshooting can also be a huge factor in getting the most out of your game. Everybody misses shots, but you need to be great at figuring yourself out so that the occasional bad shot doesn't turn into a long-term problem! After the discussion of troubleshooting, you'll never head down another dark alley ever again.
You know, it's been my experience that it's so often not a lack of talent that's holding most golfers back, it's a lack of knowledge. Once you're given the right information about how to play certain shots, you can almost always perform better on those shots. Remember, it's not just about the swing, it's about knowing what to do on the course, and after viewing this level, you will!
